About the location:
Nestled on a private island in Jinji Lake, Four Seasons Hotel Suzhou emerges as a tranquil oasis embraced by lush gardens and sparkling waters. As an urban resort, it stands just steps from the city’s core—yet within its bounds lies a tranquil sanctuary, where the hustle of downtown softens into serene privacy. The Hotel features 199 guest rooms and suites complemented by 11 standalone villas, providing an idyllic sanctuary for family gatherings, romantic getaways, or business stays.
About the role:
This role oversees Reception staff (interviewing, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and discipline as needed). It ensures efficient, friendly guest check-in/check-out, drives arrival/departure GES scores, addresses guest issues, and leads the team to meet upsell goals. It coordinates with Sales and Catering, ensures financial/credit compliance, reviews cashiers’ work, handles emergencies, arranges chauffeur/boat services, and ensures updated local information for guests. Additionally, it processes correspondence, conducts team standard testing, collaborates professionally, acts as Rooms team lead in the Director of Rooms’ absence, and troubleshoots basic in-room services.
What you will do:
• Manages the staff at the Reception Interviews, trains and schedules the staff.
Conducts Performance Evaluations and disciplines staff when needed.
• Monitors Reception team check in guest and out in an efficient and friendly manner, using guest name whenever possible.
Ascertains guest satisfaction, follow up and meet all glitch guests to make sure they’ve been taken care of. Drives GES scores Arrival & Departure.
• Upsell goal driven to have measurable plan with Reception team to achieve the goal
• Coordinates arrivals, departures and billing requirements with Sales and Catering Department. Check room blocking for arrivals and ensures any discrepancies are resolved. Reviews daily arrivals to ensure proper handling of Special Attention Guests, Return Guests, and Groups.
• Assures that all financial and credit procedures are followed.
Follows up on credit problems with Front Office Manager and/or Credit Manager. Reviews all paid-outs, rebates, Petty Cash disbursements and Direct Billings. Checks cashiers’ work at end of shift to ensure all transactions are reconciled with proper approvals and endorsements.
• Takes action in all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction and well being of hotel guests and employees when senior managers are not available. Responds swiftly and effectively in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
• Ensure all chauffeur services and boat experiences are well-arranged, driver and boatman is well- groomed.
• In charge of Rooms team in the absence of Director of Rooms
What you bring:
• College degree preferably specializing in hotel/restaurant management or equivalent experience is required.
• One to two years previous experience in luxury brand hotel same position.
• Requires reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
• Mandarin Speaking and Work authorization in China is a must.
